The lifeboat joined the Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service and Polzeath Coastguard on scene on Saturday. With daylight fading and the cow having swam to a more difficult position the recovery could not be carried out and the crew returned to the station at 6.30pm.
The rescue was resumed on Sunday morning with support from Polzeath and Boscastle Coastguard Cliff Rescue Teams and the cow was winched to safety by crews from Bodmin and Wadebridge Community Fire Stations. The Padstow RNLI Lifeboat crew returned to the station at 4.14pm.
Coxswain Richard Pitman said “It was a great example of multi-agency working and we are delighted it was a successful outcome”
