The volunteer crew of the Tamar class all-weather lifeboat from Padstow were launched today (Friday 17th August) to go to the aid of a yacht. The emergency pagers sounded for the crew at Padstow at 12.33 pm when they launched onboard the Tamar class all-weather lifeboat Spirit of Padstow.
The 45-ft American yacht with 4 persons onboard had no sail power due to the sails blowing out and the yacht had also fouled its propeller with rope off Boscastle. On arrival at the scene the lifeboat crew fixed a tow and brought the yacht back into Padstow harbour. The weather conditions of very heavy showers made the tow job extremely slow arriving into Padstow shortly after 5pm.
