Volunteer lifeboat crew launched at 5.45pm on Monday evening (9 May) to assist a yacht with propeller damage.
The sail training vessel had become tangled in buoy ropes about 10 miles West North West of Trevose. The yacht was free from the ropes when the Padstow RNLI lifeboat arrived, but the engine coupling had broken and the yacht was beginning to drift.
The Padstow crew took the yacht under tow and returned the vessel and five people on board safely to Padstow harbour at 9pm.
The crew returned to the station and Coxswain Alan Tarby said ‘It was a routine job in fine weather and we’re happy we could be of assistance’
