Padstow RNLI lifeboat crew launch to reports of an unexploded ordnance

The Levan Mor fishing vessel reported the ordnance to the Coastguard and stood by while Padstow RNLI crew launched and arrived on scene at 12.11pm today (9 October), approximately 9 miles north of Trevose.
The lifeboat stood by to mark the position of the ordnance until 1.26pm when the Levan Mor returned. The Padstow crew then returned to the lifeboat station to collect four Royal Navy Bomb Disposal experts, who had arrived from Plymouth.
The lifeboat crew and bomb disposal experts returned to the scene and a Royal Navy diver entered the water to recover the ordnance. The crew returned to the lifeboat station at 2.57pm and Padstow Coastguard took the bomb disposal experts to Constantine Bay where the ordnance was safely destroyed
